Non League Midweek Round Up

It was a good night for Kent’s Conference South clubs on Tuesday night with Dover Athletic, Tonbridge Angels and Welling United all recording wins.

Welling recorded a fairly comfortable victory over Weston-super-Mare, while a brace from Frannie Collin (14, 71) fired Tonbridge Angels to a 2-0 win over play-off hopefuls Basingstoke Town at the Camrose.

Mark Goldberg’s Bromley remain perilously close to the dreaded drop zone with a 1-1 draw against fellow strugglers Staines Town after kick off had to be delayed to 8:40pm after the visitors got caught up in an accident on the M25.

A 22nd-minute goal from Michael Malcolm fired the hosts into the lead and they looked to be heading for a narrow win before Moses Swaibu received his marching orders in injury time for a second bookable offence.

It turned out to be a pivotal moment in the match as Staines substitute Ali Chaaban popped up deep in injury time to net the equalising goal.

Nicky Forster’s Dover Athletic kept their play-off aspirations alive with a 2-1 win against Chelmsford City at Perry’s Crabble Stadium.

Billy Bricknell put the hosts ahead on the half-hour only for Cliff Akurang to level matter with a well-placed header.

However, it was James Walker who had the last with a late winner to help his side claim at vital three points on home soil.

Jamie Day’s Welling United moved even on points with second-placed Dartford after a 2-0 win over Weston-super-Mare at Park View Road.

Jack Parkinson gave the Wings the lead with a 35th-minute effort and Loick Pires made sure of the result when he found the back of the net on 50 minutes.
